Abrasive
Abrasoft ® is used as an abrasive agent to polish and clean all type of metals, walls, electric motors, tanks, boilers, wood, bridges, boat hulls, etc. It is a soft abrasive that can replace the sand or glass beads. It can be mixed with hard abrasives such as steel shot when looking to increase the volume.
The most important characteristic is that it is organic, biodegradable, silica free and easy disposable in landfills. It generates small amounts of dust when applied and can be used more times than sand or other soft abrasive due to its low partition percentage.
Abrasoft ® is available in three different grain sizes:
- 10/14: The grains have a diameter of approximately 1.4 - 2.0 mm. Commonly used for final details in metal parts in vibratory drums. It can be used for blasting steel or concrete; it can be a bit aggressive if used in wooden houses cleaning.
- 14/20: The grains have a diameter of approximately 0.8 - 1.4 mm. Very similar to 10/14 in terms of use, but the difference is that they better if you have to work on surfaces with holes or cavities where 10/14 does not reach due to its size.
- 20/40: The grains have a diameter of approximately 0.42 to 0.84 mm. Widely used when the surface being blasted must receive a minimal damage, such as engines, turbines, machines and smooth surfaces.

Abrasoft ® can be used in different grain sizes depending on the kind of work it’s being used for. Generally when the grain size is bigger, the cleaning process is more aggressive. |
